Clay Richardson is a well-known artist who owns his own gallery.
Quint Hawk, a police detective, makes contact with Clay when he sees a portrait Clay has painted in the window of the gallery--a portrait of a homeless young man who was murdered just days before. Unfortunately, Clay has no idea who the subject was.
Several months later, Quint contacts Clay to again ask about one of Clay's paintings. The subject has been murdered, as has a third man in another of his paintings.
The reclusive artist and the handsome detective are drawn to each other as they try to determine what is happening and why. They come up with a plan to catch the killer--a plan that could end up in their deaths before they can decide if there is more to their feelings than a couple of very good nights in Clay's bed.

What wonderful characters the author developed with Clay Richardson, an artist and Quint Hawk, a police detective. I enjoyed their interactions and the solving of the mystery of who was killing men that Clay had painted. Loved the story and how the men interacted. The sex was hot! Another great story from Edward Kendrick involving a famous artist, Clay, and a detective, Quint. Quint was investigating a murder when he met the normally recluse artist who had captured the murder victim on sketches and canvus. Quint began to question Clay of the possible link between him and the victim or the murderer. Clay was completely shocked that maybe the murderer could be after him, maybe his obsessed ex. Seems okay with it, unlike his ex. Evidence is brought to light that Clay's ex was murdered 2 1/2 Years ago. Matty, his ex's brother, comes into the story. Revenge can be a strong element in a broken relationship especially when the ex is not really dead. The Element Cases culminate together as Quint has found out who is out to kill them. Quint, being one step behind, is brought together with Clay as the murderers want to end their lives and their relationship. Gripping story of mystery, murder , revenge, and love. I love these stories that brings so much excitement to life. Don't miss Edward's style of writing incompassing more than SEX. Strong character development and story line that will put you on the edge. A Must Read!!
This book was thankfully a little different for an erotic romance. The author managed to focus first on mystery and character development, and I really appreciated that. I generally avoid erotica because it seems to sacrifice character and plot in an effort to include as many sex scenes as possible. In the beginning of the book, the main focus seemed to be Detective Quint’s case, which happened to involve Clay. The mystery was developed before the author tossed the sex in, of which there are ‘only’ three extremely explicit scenes. This is a welcome departure for an erotica book!
Although I did feel a bit like the author was ‘telling’ and not ‘showing’, the characters were both presented as independent, unashamed of their sexuality though not bragging about it, and aware that they were perhaps moving too fast in having sex so soon. Again, I appreciated the author for being concerned about the relationship between his characters. Although the character development could be improved a little, this was still outstanding effort at character development in an erotic romance. The fact that the characters were depicted as independent and comfortable with their sexuality is itself a welcome departure from many erotic romances that are in such a rush to include sex scenes that they sacrifice character for tired tropes and stereotypes.
I enjoyed reading about Clay, and I really identified with his surliness, detachment towards others, and difficulty in dealing with others. I appreciated Clay’s reluctance to trust someone, especially given his last unhealthy relationship, and his determination to expand the friendship with Quint even at the cost of sex. This point is really unusual in many erotica books, regardless of the sexuality of the characters. Quint and Clay’s friendship seems to develop, albeit a little awkwardly. I enjoyed the progression of the mystery, and although there were one or two twists, they didn't feel awkward or unsupported to me. A mystery is always a surprise to me, so I can't tell you how 'obvious' it was. This book reads more like a good mystery with some -'surprise!'- sex thrown in. If you like erotica, and would like a change of pace from books that only seem to be loosely connected sex scenes, I think this series would be a good place to start!

It was an ok read . I enjoyed it more than the second book in the series.
An outstanding author. Never have read anything poorly written. The short story was concise and engaging. I notice the author has created a new series with the same main characters. Great idea. This is a good short story to relax with before bedtime. Enjoy.
A fairly good plot. Obviously a starter for a series but too much emphasis on the physical side of sex between two men. ( and the comment would remain if it was a bisexual couple). I found the plot got waylaid by the romance and the ending was rushed. I may give the next book a try because I think the combination of an artist and detective has some possibilities
